Light Guild Wars was announced for April 2024. While we have a long time to prepare, many changes will occur in the following months requiring a lot of additional farming. This guide will cover the current state of things so you can at least have an idea of where to start. I’ll release an updated guide later on with updated suggestions.
Luminiera
To start, let us cover the weapons needed for Luminiera grids. The following are the basic of weapons to have most players can get.
- 5 Luminiera Sword Omegas
- 3 Luminiera Harp Omegas
- 1 Pillar of Flame or 1 Mittron’s Bow
- 1 Sword of Pallas Militis
- 1 Cosmic Sword
- 1 True Purity Sunblade
- 2 ATK Harsiesiss
- 2 ATK Harakhtes
- 1 Worldscathing Leon
- 1 Shooting of The Star
- 1 Gateway-Star Sword or 1 Fantasia-Realm Harp
- 1 Harp of Everlore
- 1 Sword of Renunciation
Luminiera Sword Omegas and Luminiera Harp Omegas are the main mod slots available for magna light. Swords are the standard mod slot for pure magna players. It is once the user gets a Harmonia that harps replace swords for burst grids. Swords are also generally more useful for FA thanks to having an HP mod as well.
A single Pillar of Flame or Mittron’s Bow is a solid option to pair in these grids to add stam. For sword grids, Sword of Pallas Militis and Cosmic Sword are the typical pairs for additional mod and cap up respectively.
True Purity Sunblade is the typical go to mainhand for Relic Buster setups thanks to the stam mod it provides as a mainhand.
When it comes to cap up, the two basic sources are Cosmic Sword and Shooting of The Star. The former is the go to for sword grids and will basically always be slotted for them. If you managed to get a celestial weapon from last GW, those will also be slotted for cap up. Gateway-Star Sword would be better for sword grids and Fantasia-Realm Harp for harp grids.
For the world weapons, the most useful will generally be Worldscathing Leon] due to boosting the autos of relic buster setups. For non RB setups, they see limited usage due to types being too restrictive for its characters. I would get all the harps anyways to prepare for future character releases that might cause them to be slotted.
Now onto weapons locked behind rank 200.
- 1 Ultima Claw (Light)
- 1 Ultima Axe (Light)
- 1 Ultima Gun or 1 Ultima Sword
- 2 ATK Concordia Mk II
- 2 DEF Symmetria
- 0-1 Radiance of Insightful Rebirth
The highest priority is getting a ULB ultima. Light wants a lot of ultimas for its different setups. Gun and Sword are the go to for Relic Buster setups. Ultima Claw and Axe are also both very useful as mainhands or aux weapons. Both will need to be light to do this.
When it comes to the Revan weapons, the primary goal will be to get 2 ATK Concordia Mk IIs. They will both be good as manadiver mainhand as well as the additional cap up for non RB setups. The DEF awakening on Symmetria makes it a solid option for FA even with its skills being generally useless in magna.
And lastly the draconic weapon will be used for the fastest FA setups for NM200. If manual clears of NM200 for magna are viable, they may also likely slot it.
And from the gacha there are a few weapons of note.
- 1-2 Harmonias
- 0-1 Gambanteinn or 0-1 Certificus]
Getting two Harmonias is definitely the highest priority even at 0*. The supplemental and cap up at FLB they provide are very valuable and will be a requirement for many setups. Gambanteinn and Certificus] are great ATK and cap up slots though I wouldn’t consider it a priority bar. But if you have one already uncapped and awakened you’ll see good use from it.
Zeus
Do keep in mind that there will be future updates to GBF that may, or may not, change barring priorities regarding GW for Zeus. For now, we will cover what is currently being used.
- 2 Harmonias
- 3 Imperious Fury
- 2-3 Edens
- 2 Luminiera Harp Omegas
- 2 ATK Gambanteinns or 1 ATK Gambanteinns and 1 ATK Certificuss
- 2 ATK Concordia Mk IIs
- 1 Fantasia-Realm Harp
- 2 DEF Symmetrias
- 1 Sword of Renunciation
- 1 Sword of Repudiation
- 1 Harp of Everlore
- 1 Ultima Claw (Light)
- 1 Ultima Axe (Light)
- 1 Ultima Gun
- 0-1 Radiance of Insightful Rebirth
Harmonia is present core of Light grids. Many of the other pieces are more volatile in nature. Presently Light at the highest end leans towards using additonal harp weapons like Luminiera Harp Omegas and a Fantasia-Realm Harp. They also slot Concordia Mk IIs for the normal cap up.
This said, Edens and Imperious Fury are still both very strong grid pieces with plenty of use. Edens are the best primal mod slot and will recieve an awakening that has the potential to make it an even better grid piece. Furies are excellent sources of cap up for single sided Zeus setups. For FA they are also great due to providing lots of HP and defense. The main limiting factor of them is the HP requirement of Vitality being very restrictive. They are unviable for unboosted setups that see increasing usage in the game’s present state especially for the higher Nightmare difficulties. They are also the grid pieces most vulnerable to being cut when Light gets its Exalto weapon.
Last year, Gambanteinns held a strong place in Fury setups thanks to the TA boost helping to reach 100% TA to allies. This resulted in being able to cut a button from Nehan. Two ATK awakened weapons were also slotted in general. Only one needs to be a Gamba so the second could be a Certificus instead.
There is also one relevant 150 GM weapon to light.
Ura is a very solid weapon for light burst setups thanks to both its 30% normal amp and counter damage. Last year it was used in all the fastest setups except for the NM200 solo. However, it is far from neccesary to do well for light GW and is ultimately a weapon for light enthusiats. Upcoming changes may affect how valuable it is.
Who to Spark
Before GW, there will be many galas including two with free pulls on them. Barring new character releases, the following are the main characters you want to aim for. This will primarily be about the characters themselves unless a weapon is way too important to not mention.
Nehan
Nehan is light’s best buffer and is an required character for burst setups. If you don’t have him you should really get him before Guild Wars. There really is no good work around for not having him.
Yuni
Yuni is a hard content character who won’t see use during GW itself. However, she gets the mention due to coming with Harmonia which is the highest priority weapon to spark in Light.
Lu Woh
Lu Woh is the king of skill damage mash for light. He is a staple to light skill setups for raids where its applicable. The main downside to him is that presently light has faster burst strategies available. But changes might increase his value especially with Manadiver setups seeing dominant usage across the elements.
He also comes with Imperious Fury which is useful grid piece for Light. Presently light uses up to three of them.
Vira (Grand)
Vira (Grand) is a sub all tank that also does a lot of damage with her charge attacks as well as providing dispels. She’s a great FA unit that will be a good pick for the harder Nightmare fights.
Cosmos
Cosmos is another FA option with dispels on CA. She provides some strong teamwide buffs including a strong 20-100% defense buff via her passives as well as dealing respectable damage from her nukes on autos and double CA with nukes.
Jeanne (Grand)
Jeanne d’Arc (Grand) while generally a dated character does have a lot of nice utlity that keeps her relevant. The most useful of these is 10% echoes on ally TAs. Beyond being a free echo, it is particurly valuable because it stacks with all other echo sources light has. Her skill 3 Eternal Divinity All Light allies gain Critical Hit Rate Boosted (Light) (20%, 3t), DMG Cap Boosted (15%, 3t) and ATK Boosted (1 time) (15%, Multiplier: Assassin, 1t). provides a teamwide assassin and cap up which is strong, but being locked behind 3 turns with proper setup means its usage is limited.
What to Suptix
As for suptix options, here are some notable releases from the last couple of years to consider.
You
You is presently a core OTK light character due to her starting with 100% charge bar. She’s the easiest way to push EX+ to 50% so the reactive nukers in the element can fire off. She’s also great for NM95 due to having a one hit assassin paired with a 50% echo.
Ferry
Ferry (SSR) provides a lot of good value from four turns of 100% TA and 30% echoes as well as a teamwide passive stam mod. She also will nuke after her TAs. She was used last year for NM95 and will be a good option as well this year.
Utsusemi
Utsusemi is an all around solid character. For burst she provides team echoes, onslaught, and has an assassin as well as GTA and nukes after autos against foes in break. She’s also good for FA with her skill 1 becoming stronger with each cast as well as dispelling on autos against foes in break or with her onslaught up.
Volenna
Volenna (SSR) is a solid burst buffer being able to provide GTA and echoes to the team for two turns. While she probably won’t be the best option for anything, she does have a lot of good value that I can see people making use of her if they lack stronger characters.
Zooey
Zooey is a great FA option for players thanks to her skill 3 The Last Wish
1000% Light damage to a foe (Damage cap: ~1,600,000).
All Light allies gain Sign of Zooey (5% of max HP Healing cap: 1000 / 100% ATK Up / 100% DEF Up, Multiplier: Normal, 5T).
being a strong defense and attack mod as well as providing healing. She can also mitigate damage through dodging if the boss isn’t AOE.
Summons
As usual, summons are always a good choice for suptixes. Artemis Zeus, Lu Woh are all great options depending on your plans for GW. If you need any of them or want to save a sunstone, going this route is a good choice.
Anniversary Suptix
In March we will also recieve the anniversary suptix. Any seasonal character or summon from 2023 and earlier can be picked with this one. As a result, it is a great chance to pick up rarer or harder to get characters.
Mugen (Halloween)
Mugen (Halloween) is presently the best secondary buffer in light thanks to his passive working great with Nehan. He also can hit very hard with his skill 3 Gain Tricky Constitution (1T) and Undying (Can’t be removed) (3 times).Self-inflict Max HP Lowered (Stackable / Can’t be removed) (30% (90% Max)). . Presently any setup that uses Nehan will use him too.
Florence (Halloween)
Florence (Halloween) has a targerable assassin which is the key to Relic Buster setups. Spamming as many of these boosted autos per turn is a great way to deal lots of damage in one turn. She sees use as well outside RB as well like for Ura lucha. Between her and Mugen one would typically want Mugen first,
Illnott (Holiday)
Illnott (Holiday) deals skill nukes on ally normals. These nukes add up to a lot of damage since they are so frequent. The main downside to her nukes for burst setups is requiring red border skills to be pressed for them to get strong. But for FA setups this is no issue at all and she will be great for them.
Evoker
Light has one evoker to consider but he is one to consider working towards.
Geisenborger
Before FLB, Geisenborger does not offer much. While he is an unkillable tank in the right setups, those will not see use in GW even for FA. His backline passive that caps incoming dark damage to 10k falls off with newer content due to most boss have special attacks that deal many smaller damage instance that won’t see much reduction from Geisen.
AT FLB, he might see usage for NM200. 3 turns of double strike with his quad attacks as well as the assassin he can get each turn at 1 HP means he could deal lots of sustained damage while also tanking hits. This might not be the case, but would be good to at least FLB him and prepare the skill 4 just in case it goes that way.
New Content
With Anniversary coming up, the game is expected to recieve a lot of major changes. The updates we already know from Winter Stream alone will result in major changes to grids and setups all around.
M3
Magna 3 will be releasing in March. Given they are calling this raid series M3, it would be best to anticipate major shakeups to Luminiera grids right before Guild Wars.
Summon Transcendence
One of the biggest of changes are transcendances for both the Omega and Primal summons. What they provide is still unknown, any boost to the aura will be appreciated and its likely they will offer way more than just that. Additional reminder that omega summons will require 5 sands each to fully transcend and primal ones will need an unspecified amount of primal anima to transcend.
Classes
We will also be recieving a new class Onmyoji as well as more Ultimate Masteries. Class releases and changes are always big deals so very likely something here will be useful.
Grand Awakenings
More Grand weapons will be recieving awakenings. This includes Eden which is already a great slot so very likely what it gets will make it an even better one.
New Releases
And as always last but not least is new gacha Character and Weapon releases. Anniversary will bring 1-2 waves of summer and yukata characters who have potential to be highly useful. As well it is safe to expect at least one Grand release from now til GW. Light will likely get its Exalto weapon during this period.
One response to “Light GW 2024 Way Too Early Preparation Guide”
Thank you, that was very informative.
It’s weird how i play this game for so long and still feel like a newbie D:
